Bharat Nivas

This is the pavilion of India along with the other countries of south asia in the international zone of Auroville. Development of campus in its existing form is very scattered and has grown organically over the last 40 years. The planning and development has changed many hands, there are different styles visible within the campus with no correlation what so ever. Data collection and analysis done of the existing campus with the participation of all the users was undertaken to work out a scenario for the projected growth considering all planning parameters viz precipitation, drainage pattern, contour model, vegetation, water percolation & recharge, etc. With this, a consolidated master plan for Bharat Nivas has been prepared and implementation of the plan is underway with additional facilities to intensify the use of the existing buildings such as 600 seater auditorium, exhibition spaces, offices, guest houses, museums, art gallery and library.
